Backend Broker Business
I’ve always been interested in business and in identifying and anticipating trends in technology and commerce. From experimenting with reselling popular apparel like Yeezy sneakers to designing advertisements for small technology companies, I have found internet-based, entrepreneurial projects exciting.
I started my first business in middle school by creating an Instagram community page where others submit their best/funniest videos. When the page grew to over 100,000 followers, I was able to successfully monetize it through partnerships and advertising.
In high school, I turned my business focus to identifying and acquiring social media “handles” (account names) for resale. For example, after purchasing the handle containing my last name (“@burke”) on Instagram for $300, I was able to sell it for $3,000 a month later, a 900% return on investment. After over 20 transactions ranging from $100-$5,000, I’ve learned important lessons that have enhanced my marketing, sales and negotiating skills.
